3 Sad Truth About Coffee That Everyone Should Know

Mornings will never be complete without a sip of coffee. Millions of adult can never live a day without coffee. It makes their minds concentrate more and have a strength for daily survival. Many flowery words are said regarding coffee. But does coffee truly satisfy the needs of everyone addicted to or loved it? Here is the truth about coffee you should know!

“People who consume caffeine regularly will become dependent on it – if you take caffeine away from them, they will function below par”

– Peter Rogers, professor of biological psychology at Bristol University.

Experts suggest that this morning ritual is actually a sign of mass drug dependency. Yes, it is all about dependency, is is it not? So what is it really with coffee that would hurt the feelings of every coffee lover in the world?

1.) It will not improve your concentration

3 Sad Truth About Coffee That Everyone Should Know-1

A recent study by Professor Rogers involving 300 volunteers found coffee does not increase alertness, concentration or reaction time, but it will just keep you awake for quite some time.

It is not giving your mind the concentration you need for that day or night. Yes, you maybe are awake but that does not mean you are in the right focus. Coffee will just awaken your sleepy eyes but you will still have a sleepy and tired mind.

So if your purpose is to make a good concentration for a certain thing or activity then you better get enough rest and sleep and not coffee. Sleep is the best option for your mental concentration and sleepy eyes.

2.) Coffee does not give you Boost

If you are thinking that you want or need some headstart for you daily activity then coffee should not be the option you choose.

A research made where there are 300 volunteers, half of them had a moderate to high caffeine intake, the other half had a low intake and were adviced to stop drinking coffee for 16 hours before the tests.

The group who drunk coffee did not have any difference in alertness with those who did not drink coffee at all.  In other words, drinking coffee doesn’t make us any more alert than non-coffee drinkers.

A study also shows that it is not about coffee at all but the mindset of everyone’s brain that does the work of boosting one’s body. Logically, if you think that coffee boosts your body and mind then it was partly done by your mind and not by coffee alone.

3.) You will get addicted to Caffeine

The various options for drinking coffee is now a worldwide trend.

You can take it warm, hot, or even cold. Put some cream and toppings and you are good to go.

But is it purely because of those toppings, cream, and sugar? Definitely NOT! Why?

Well, it is also because of caffeine. You become addicted to caffeine quickly, and soon you are drinking coffee to cure withdrawal more than for stimulation. Holding a warm cup of coffee with delicious cream, topped with a frothy head makes a picture perfect for your Instagram post.

You smell it brewing and feel cozy inside as you browse cakes and brownies, scones and biscotti. It makes you feel alive and kicking for a day.

Be careful not to have a lot of it or else your future body will question the things you have done in the past. Do you want that? Absolutely, Not!

Conclusion

“The take-home is that regular use of caffeine produces no benefit to alertness, energy, or function. Regular caffeine users are simply staving off caffeine withdrawal with every dose – using caffeine just to return them to their baseline. This makes caffeine a net negative  for  alertness, or neutral at best if use is regular enough to avoid any withdrawal.”
– Neurologist Stephen Novella from his blog, Neurologica

If one can no longer live without coffee then you should consider another option.

Decaf is the answer for you.  Professor Rogers suggests that, in fact, the benefits of coffee and tea lie in the antioxidants that they contain – compounds that work to lower inflammation in the body.

Inflammation has been linked to a host of diseases such as stroke, cardiovascular disease, and cancer, and so antioxidants consumed in tea and coffee may reduce the risk of these diseases.

After all, you still can drink coffee but take the DECAFFEINATED one. It is still a matter of choice and your decision will show the result not as early as tomorrow morning but it will only show in the long run. Choose what is best for you.
